HORSEBACK RIDING OPTIONS
Benefit Ride to the Horse Rescue (with yoga option)
This ride visits and benefits our local horse rescue! Heading out from the farm, we make our way over to the local horse rescue which is about a 20 minute ride. At the horse rescue, we get to ride around and see the beautiful facilities, drop off our donations and then head out on a 1.5 mile trail loop on the property. After the trail, we return to Rusty Hill Farm, where you are welcome to hang out on the farm and tour the barn, visit the goats, and gardens. Feel free to pack a lunch and plan to stay for a picnic! This ride also has an optional pre/post ride yoga class on the deck that can be added to round out the day.

*Pre/Post riding yoga option: Before the ride, enjoy a 15-20 min pre-ride yoga flow on our yoga deck to loosen up the hips and bring awareness to core muscles needed for riding. Upon return, we will gather again on the deck for a 20 minute yin yoga class with a nice restorative opening and stretch for the riding muscles. Cucumber/lemon water, tea and dark chocolate will be waiting for you after yoga!
Redwood Forest Trail Ride with yoga option
Beautiful meandering trail ride through the redwood trees in a magical forest setting. The trail starts in a beautiful meadow and winds down into the forest and around through the woods until finally returning. Post-riding yoga in the meadow is an optional ad-on for this ride.

Post riding yoga option: Upon our return to the meadow, we will roll out mats for a 20 minute yin yoga class with a nice restorative opening and stretch for the riding muscles.
Hilltop and seasonal wildflower ride with lunch/dinner option
This ride is approximately 4 miles. We start the journey through expansive rolling hills, watching birds of prey soar above, pass grazing cattle, the occasional deer and beautiful fields of wildflowers in early Spring. The trail leads to a lovely hilltop rest stop to enjoy a trail snack with a view, while giving the horses a drink and a rest. After lunch, we loop back around the hill along an oak studded single-file trail opening up to wildflowers and rolling hills finally returning back to the parking area.

Beach ride with optional lunch/dinner
This is a lovely one hour jaunt along the beach and dunes. Bird watching, sea life and even deer and fox are sometimes seen. The ride lasts about an hour. After riding, we can stop at one of several famous restaurants for dinner or lunch.
This ride can be arranged at Sunset too!
There are porta potty bathrooms at parking area

Riding Lessons for: beginners/returning riders/health and healing
We are not a riding lesson facility, but do offer a small number of lessons by appointment for: beginner riders, as a refresher of basics for those returning to riding, and riding for health and healing.
45 minute lesson includes care of the horse: grooming, saddling, bridling, basic terms and care. Approximately 30 minutes of riding instruction in the saddle to learn the basic elements of developing a balanced seat and the fundamentals of communication with the horse.

Pony Care lessons and lead line riding for small children
Do you have little ones who are interested in horses? The "pony care class" might be just the thing.
This class is 30 minutes long and starts with learning about how to safely be around a pony/horse. Kids will learn about the different brushes and grooming tools and will groom the pony. We will learn about tack and putting on a saddle. The kids will get to practice on our barrel before finally getting a lead-line lesson riding the pony. One parent must accompany child(children).

**Please note.. we are not a horse-rental facility. These are our well-loved family horses. The trail ride packages are offered to people who have prior riding experience and can ride with a balanced seat at walk and trot. The well-being of our horses is top priority and we do not gallop on the trails. All rides are guided. Two people max per package. Helmets are required for all age riders. Lessons can be all levels
